I've been swamped by Detective Conan episodes lately (I can't believed I missed so much), but now! NOW, I can finally make time to play this game new game I got. Da-da-dum, Yo-Jin-Bo!
I've had my eyes on this for awhile ever since I saw a screenshot of the game, the art was soo pretty and it's historical (I'm kind of a sucker for that). I initially thought there were only three obtainable guys, namely Yo, Jin and Bo based on the synopsis but turns out there were six of them. I got the download link from here.
The story focuses on the main character Sayori, who is a modern highschool girl. She finds a mysterious pendant while out helping with an archaeological dig (she's in the history club and is forced to attend) and later has a strange dream--a scene from a hundred and fifty years ago, during the last days of the samurai, and she sees Hatsuhime, princess of the Mochizuke clan, assassinated!
It get even more stranger when the scene changes, and Sayori realizes that she's in Hatsuhime's body; that she has somehow seen how things were, and the situation has now "reset" giving her a chance to avert the princess's terrible fate.
First. let's get the girls out of the way. This kind of set-up is somewhat interesting for me. Sayori is generally a normal girl, a good person, if not a little on the meek side. She's a crybaby but also an optimist, she struck me as a little Mary Sue-ish at some moments in the game, but all in all, she's a nice girl. Hatsuhime, on the other hand, is a tomboyish, selfish, irresponsible princess. I didn't like her character very much when she first appeared but I grew to like her because of what she did in some endings. It's interesting for me because usually its the princess who's meek or solemn and will be replaced by a loudmouth or klutz girl from another world and not the other way around.
Now that that's over with, let's move on to the guys. There are six obtainable guys: Yo, Jin, Bo, Ittosai, Muneshige and Mon-Mon (I forgot his name) so far I've only gotten three of them (I have exams later. LOL.)
Tatsunami Ittosai
Ittosai was my first 'capture', he's the silent type, the bloodthirsty assassin whose sword is only used for killing. He seems to have a bone to pick with Jin (and vice versa). Although he's a man of few words, he occasionally joins the banter of the group, most likely carried away by Mon-Mon. He gets along best with Bo, but that's probably because of the latter's personality.
His Bad Ending Path is Call My Name, which is one of the sadder endings I guess (in terms of bad endings), its just too bad that (okay, it's a spoiler from here on out) Sayori has to go back just when they finally realized that they love each other *sniff* (poor Ittosai!) but at the very least, all of them were still alive.
His Good Ending Path is The Journey to the Future, which I guess is the most "normal", I kind of expected that it would turn out like that. Still, Ittosai was so cool though when they were (spoiler again) falling from the Watchtower.
Jinnosuke "Jin" Murasame
I tried to get Yo next, but for some reason we kept dying, so I switched to Jin instead. Jin was the honest, highly-spirited, awkward-with-women type of guy. I can't help but think that they were the main pairing after I got both Jin's good and bad ending. Jin's bad ending, From Beneath the Distant Sky was bittersweet but it doesn't leave you as unfulfilled or lonely like the others. His good ending La Joei de la Destinee, was just...perfect. This must be the best ending.
Yozaburo "Yo" Shiranui
After changing some choices I made right at the very beginning, I was finally able to get Yo without dying. Yo was the youngest in the bunch, causing others (Mon-Mon) to treat him like a kid. I like his 'voice' a lot, I think it fits his character well. He seems to like Jin alot, since he always looks out for him. With his good looks, he's confident with women unlike Jin though. His bad ending, Resolution was probably the saddest of them all. For him, Sayori and Hatsuhime. I'd like to think that Hatsuhime also fell for Yo that's why she made her decision then. His good ending, To the Promised Land, on the other hand, is the most hilarious out of all the others.
Tainojo "Bo" Tsubaki
After getting every guy that I wanted, I turned to Bo next. He's the most good-looking of three remaining guys. Bo's character was weird for me, he is a swordsman--a samurai who lives by the Code but at the same time he is also a science freak who's fascinated by many unexplained things. I just can't wrapped my head around that. His bad ending, Lady of the Moonlit Night was just as bad as Ittosai's and his good ending The Door Into Summer was like the opposite of Jin's good ending.
