Starry Sky in Summer

Summer is my third Starry Sky game. I've played Spring and Winter a long long time ago (I'm gonna play them again!) Actually, its supposed to be the second game in the series but, meh, who cares. You can download the torrent here

(Summer = Tanabata Festival)

Tsukiko (You) have joined the academy's archery club. As she practices for summer competition, she simultaneously solves the problems between her teammates. Here's the OP song:

Ryunosuke Miyaji
He's sooo cute~~ I like him the most *glomps* Miyazi is the vice captain of the archery club. He's serious and calm at most times, but is actually hotheaded and easy to provoke (He's also quick to blush). He likes sweets and constellations. Sign is Scorpio.

Azusa Kinose
Cheeky. This brat is cheeky. (grrr!) but I chose him next since he played the good (?) guy in Miyazi Path. Kinose is a first year student and a newcomer at the archery club. He annoys Miyazi a lot and is constantly flirting with Tsukiko. Although he claims to be a genius, he actually has insecurity issues. His sign is Sagittarius.

Homare Kanakubo
This guy is smooth and super sneaky, while he breaks up the fight between Kinose and Miyazi, he takes Tsukiko to himself. Kanakubo is the captain of the archery club, and is usually seen as easy going and friendly. Everybody listens to him when he gets serious though. He's weak under pressure, but he overcomes it thanks to his teammates (and you?). His sign is Taurus.

Shiratori, Inukai and Koguma
The other members of the archery club. These three guys also help me enjoy Summer a lot. Shiratori is the tallest of the three, he seems to have feelings for Tsukiko too. He's my fave in the baka trio. Inukai is the one with glasses, he cares for Tsukiko a lot and see her as an important friend. Koguma is the girly guy (with the very deep voice) on the left. He's usually just agreeing with the other two but can also be resolute at times (like when he walked out on Kinose).

You can download the rest of the CGs here. Enjoy ^_^

Fantasia: Realm of Thanos

The first of the trilogy. You can download it here.
You play as Cheryl Nielson, a regular high school girl who lost her family in a plane accident. Alone in the summer holidays, you meet a woman...the White Lady. She explains to you that she has been looking for you because you can save Fantasia. The reason being you've experienced pain and the keys which can save that world are inside people who share the same pain as yours. Through the power of love, the world of Fantasia can be saved. But be warned: Once you go to Fantasia, there's a chance you may never come back.

I love this game. I've just recently finished Frozen Essence so I was looking for more games just like that one. Fantasia: Realm of Thanos fits the bill. There are four paths you can take--the guys who share the same pain as you.

The boy with the cursed body
(Ian Vanguardian - friendship key)

Ian was...different from what I expected him to be when I first saw him. I mean, his power is ice so I expected him to be the cool and quiet type and boy, was I wrong. He's childish and basically a wimp at first. He was the easiest one to get (for me) mainly because the choices in order to get him was quite obvious and I...uhh...like spaghetti. He's a sweet and funny character. He's also a fanboy of the other guys in the game, but watch out he's going to be an important man someday.

The boy who thirst for blood
(Leon Xaverius - kindness key)

Leon is my second favorite character in RoT (next to Oswald). If I had to described him, he's...conflicted. He's like this cute psycho teddy bear with crazy mood swings (what am I saying?). However, he acts like a gentleman around you. He's one of the most sought after guy in the game (there's Melodia, Princess Violetta? and you) and its good to know that if you don't pick him he's going to end up with the better girl.

The boy who trusts no one
(Gil Roughknight - trust key)

Gil isn't really the kind of character that I go after in a game (for short, he's my least favorite). He's mature (is that so bad?) and just so...calm and collected. I can count the number of times he blushed in the whole game (its...*toot*). But he's also the character that offers you the most number of alternative paths. It's easy to guess what kind of food he likes, elf, nature, green hair? so yeah.

The ruler of the realm
(Oswald Leingold - ultimate key)

Kyaa~~ Oswald!! *_* Oswald is one of my favorite characters in the whole Fantasia series. Silver hair, crimson eyes and the I-can-do-whatever-I-want-because-I'm-so-great-hahaha! attitude. (luv it!) Yep, it's the bad boy trap but I don't care. Vestoria kind of got demoted in my list though after I learned the true story. I'm glad this was the canon pairing cos they're my absolute favorite. Even in the secret ending, he's the one I like the most.

WTF--I mean, secret endings
(Hurrah for the secret endings! LOL.)

This is just for fun so don't take it too seriously. You have to buy a certain item from the mysterious merchant to get these endings (there are two of them). Warning: the item's effect lasts forever. There's also the Thanos ending.

I just finished playing Frozen Essence so its still fresh to mind. I think Cheryl loses in terms of heroine. I mean, Mina being the Death Sphere and all, can you spell U-N-W-A-N-T-E-D? Her background is certainly more interesting for me. But...but...but! Oswald totally owns Rune. Rune is just so...blah. I think this is the first game I played where the bad guy gets the girl. This is a great game! I'm off to play the next one. ^_^

Frozen Essence

I've had this game for awhile but never got the chance to play till now. In terms of story, I must say this is the most complex (and beautiful) one I've ever read. (Also the one with the most CGs)

Story:

In a world balanced by essence, you play as a girl unsealed from her crystal prison. With no memories and with dark powers feared by many, will she get by? Will she find love? With the guidance and protection of the oracle within her realm, her journey begins.

Water Path
(Fave moment: when Mina finally remembered him)

This is the first path I opened when I played the game, not by choice but because of lack of it actually. Apparently, I didn't "bond" with anyone enough for them to be so important to me, and it's just as well. All the questions I have and may have in the future have been answered in this path. The dark ending was a bit creepy though. (define: obsessed)

Earth Path
(I set my sight on Caius from the very first CG he appeared in)

This is actually one of my favorite paths. I looove the light ending, and the dark ending wasn't so bad. Also, there were so many funny moments in this one (and sweet and touching moments) that I can't help but love. Caius' character sort of reminds me of Belphegor from KHR. I love them both! >_<

Fire Path
(Confessions: I thought he was a girl when I first saw him)

I already got some CGs from when I got the Water Path so I thought I might as well complete it. This is actually the most difficult path for me. I had a hard time with Varian because frankly, I didn't know how to act around him (plus there wasn't much interaction) Both the light and dark ending also didn't strike me as much as the others. I pity him though since he keeps blaming himself for what happened (when I now know it's not his fault)

Air Path
(I've got a soft spot for him for what he did in the Life Path)

I am running out of choices so between Rune and Aurelius, I picked him. Rune kind of rubbed me the wrong way when I first met him. I was kind of hesitant though because of Aysel. This path is my least favorite, not because it isn't great (it is!) but because it doesn't relate much with the others. It's completely separate (with Earth and Fire, there were still connections) but it does my heart good though to know that the White Order isn't all powerful, and I get to meet Lady Cascade again (I owe her one in the Earth Path)

Life Path
(I didn't like Rune but my opinion of him change after this)

Frankly, I never expected this to be the true ending (Life and Death! Gaah! I'm so stupid!). Also, Rune was the guy I was least motivated to pursue. He's just so...dull and I have a prejudice against guys who...touched their foreheads and smiles (stereotype of narcissist. sorry!). I love the true ending though, its sad but I see that its the best way to end this. My hate for Oryon also took on a whole new level here. Die Oryon! DIIIEEE!

Death Path
(This CG is messing with my mind! Must...hate...Oryon)

So... I notice that I got all the guys but there were still some locked CGs remaining, namely the Death Path. Time to be EVIL! Wow. I thoroughly enjoyed this path, getting revenge on all who hurt Mina but...but...what's up with the dark ending CG?! For some reason...kyaa~~ MinaxOryon ftw! I can't stop my inner fangirl, not with such potential pairing in front of me. I also heard that Mina looks like Virgil's wife...hmm... *gets shot*

Sono Hanabira

I thought I 'd tear my mind off from yaoi for awhile (it's been glued ever since Altor) so I turned to...yuri! OMG. This is my first yuri game ever. I'm so excited!

Five minutes later:
Me: .....

Okay. Maybe for a first game it was too...much for me? Mind you, I've read and watched yuri before, Strawberry Panic for example, but all it involved was kissing and...more kissing. Even in doujins I've read (mostly K-ON!) were just about that level. So I guess I was a bit surprised when I played this game.

(Lunch scene CG --sort of reminded me of Kannazuki no Miko)

Nevertheless, that didn't stop me from enjoying it (although I had to pause once in awhile). Nanami's voice was cute and the art was soo pretty. There were times when I just had to stare at some CGs. The story is a bit...well, let's just say I prefer more complicated stuff, but it's got a lighthearted feel to it that I didn't dislike.

This is the first installment so I'll be combing the 'net for more. (I just found this one on the 'net too although I forgot where EXACTLY I got it from)

L's Difficult Successors

You can download it from the author's site.

WARNING: R-15 (maybe higher?), shota and OOC contents.

OMG. OMG. OMG. This game just change my opinion of L completely! I would probably never look at him the same way ever again. What's frightening is I can totally see him doing something like this--toying with kid's minds. (sorry L!) Blame my yaoi-infested brain! =_=

The game contained strict rules about spoiling so I can't say anything more. I'm curious as to who Roger is though (was he in Deathnote?) and there goes my MattxMello shipping out the window. Now I can have Matt all to myself :)

Altor

Download it here.

*sniff* I just finished playing Altor, this KHR doujin game I downloaded (I've been putting it off since my chinese is a little rusty or virtually forgotten more like) And I just got the true ending, it was so... *cries uncontrollably*

(CG of Gokudera and his mom)

I admit I was never a fan of 6927. I usually pair off Mukuro with Byakuran (I'd rather Hibari goes to Dino!) and Tsuna with...Hibari (Kyaa~ I can't resist! >_<) or anyone else for that matter. Gokudera is usually reserved for Yamamoto, but 5927 love is something I approve of. SO I set out to play Altor with 5927 in mind. And it was quite easy to get by the way. (Did it on my first try~)

(Altor's art is so pretty ^_^)

But when it came to the Mukuro (/True) ending. It was one of most beautiful stories I've ever read. And just for this once, I'm picking 6927 over 5927.
Mukuro: You don't make a very good pillow. You're too bony~ and you didn't even say "goodnight" before I sleep
Tsuna: Well, then don't sleep here!

The true ending provided a good back story about the eye, why Mukuro keeps reincarnating, what his 'soul' is searching for and how it all relates to Tsuna. Added factor since I get to see Giotto, TYL Yamamoto and a bratty Mukuro :P

This is one of my most favorite doujin game of all time. I just wish it was in english since I wasn't so sure if I read some parts right. ^^'

(P)lanets

Download the demo here.

Can you bend a spoon just by staring at it?
Can you switch bodies with whomever you want?
Can you hear your cat speak to you in the night?
Don't worry – you aren't crazy.
Welcome to the place for people like you: (P)lanets – The Psychic Learning Academy for New and Exciting Tactical Studies.
This is a school for those gifted with psychic abilities!

Story:

Marin was a normal girl, until one day she fell down the staircase at school. She had a concussion and when she woke up in the nurse's room, something had changed. She could hear the thoughts of everyone around her! What is going on?

Still confused, a mysterious boy then appears before her: "Come with me, where there are others like you." And just like that, Marin's day at Planets began. Perhaps she will find love through the chaos of a new strange school.

There was also an Opening video attached. Cute song by the way.

I found this while I was browsing in the Works-in-Progress section in lemmasoft. I played the demo and enjoyed it. There were a few typos here and there like "delinquint" and there was a scene where I was talking to Ruiko but "Ryuu" was written as the speaker. Other than that, it was fine.

I've decided to pursue Kaius first (although if left to my natural choices it would lead me to Ryuu) since I really wanna know his ability. Also, I wonder if Haruhi (Marin's crossdresser bestfriend) is obtainable? The story seems like a straightforward otome game, no mysteries to solve, conspiracies to uncover or anything like that (too bad!) but still, this one make it to my list of things-to-look-forward-to.

Love and Order

Love and Order. Download demo version here.

In the smallest district in Montreal, the Crown Attorney relies on the legal expertise of its lawyers; backed up by the support of a single hard-working secretary.

This is the story of Dana Larose, a young woman starting her career as a secretary in the Crown Attorney's office. the office is both overworked and understaffed, so you'll have to work out whose project you h
elp with accordingly.

Will you be able to unravel the mystery being covered up, balance the stress of juggling overtime for everyone and find love...?

Characters: (from left to right)
  • Dorothy McCoy
  • Pierre Martin
  • Dana Larose
  • Jonathan Nguyen
  • Ross Kim
Raves and Rants:

This is relatively simple compared to the other visual novels I've played, you just have to work as a secretary while solving the mystery. How hard can it be? The hard part for me comes on how to juggle the workload. I'm sort of the type who can't say 'no' to people so it took me awhile to finish on my first try. I solved the mystery but didn't end up with anyone.
You can only work during morning, early afternoon and late afternoon. You can work during lunch hour and evening too, but that has added stress. The more stressed you are, the more likely you are to mess up on your work. To relieve stress, you can play solitaire (-3%) or eat your packed lunch (-5%). The other options are eating Chinese or Expensive food or going to the pub or theater, but you're going to have to spend money on that.

You begin the game with $100. There are three items you can buy at the mall: a red vest ($40), a crimson blouse ($70) and the lucky watch ($200). I've gotten all endings but I still haven't bought the watch, not even once (but meh, maybe I'm just too lazy)

There are some extras you unlock along with some endings (actually Pierre's ending is the only one with no bonus). Interview with the Supervillain Prosecutor unlocks when you get an ending with Dorothy. Other Assorted Heartbreak, a sort of backstory, unlocks with Jonathan ending. and a short comic strip, Love and 4koma unlocks with Ross ending.

Favorite ending: Pierre Path

Moonlight Walks

"I can only see you at the night of the full moon."

Moonlight Walks was the first visual novel I've ever played. I sort of found it by accident when I was looking for the game mentioned by the artist of this work. (She's the heroine of the story by the way.)

The story begins with you spending the summer before college at a small island with your aunt and uncle. You love astronomy and has a passion for photography. One night, while you're out taking pictures of the full moon, you meet a girl walking down the beach...

It was short and sweet with just four endings. I wasn't really keen about the art at first but after seeing the original drawings (the artist added an option) I was impressed with the improvement of the remake.

Ending 1: Nothing to Say
Ending 2: History
Ending 3: Married for Moments
Ending 4: Together, Into the Light (this ones my fave)

Although the story is a bit cliche, I liked it enough to encourage me to try out other visual novels too. And also, to bring my camera with me the next time I take a moonlight walk ^^
