Did you know there was a sequel to Law of Ueki? Well, I didn't. Until now...
Synopsis:
Two years after the tournament of the next god, Kosuke Ueki is now a 3rd years student in Hinokuni High School. For some reason, everyone in the real world has lost their memory of their most important person, including his friends, who participated in the tournament two years ago. Ueki, being the only person left in the world unaffected, is fighting in order to restore everyone's memories. Ueki goes to another world called Hangekai. There, he meets new companions and gains new powers.
Law of Ueki was one of my most favorite animes. It's something I could rewatch again and again, I never get tired of it, that's how much I like it. So I was glad to know that it has a sequel.
(Ueki is decided to go to Hangekai)
The story is pretty much the same, I guess. Ueki has a clear mission of what he has to do, there's Wool (replacement for Tenko?), Sora (Rinko?), Haiji (Hideyoshi?) and Nagara (Sano?). Their personalities are different of course. I'm just saying that they kind of...fill the same roles.
(Ueki's new teammates)
(They're just as crazy though)
There's new powers. Ueki no longer has the Sacred Treasures or the power to change trash to trees. In this world, there's an object and the power of that object. Ueki's is Mop and the Power of Grabbing.
If the central theme on the anime was "Justice", this manga's theme seem to be "teammates" since they also enter a tournament or maybe "once in a lifetime meeting" since that was also emphasized on the series.
There is admittedly more gore and blood to go around this time as well as character death (gasp!). Maybe its just me but it wasn't as funny as the first one, and sometimes the circumstances just seem too...convenient. And it was too short! so yeah, maybe its just me. Ueki is as epic as ever though.
(Oooh... soo cool.)
Favorite quotes:
- Throughout life, people only get a single chance to meet one another. Sometimes, this single moment could be more important than life itself. To meet again, is merely based on luck. (First Chapter)
- When you meet people for the first time, do you think "Who should I meet?" Just like going to school on a typical day or going out for a walk in a great weather. Act naturally, take it step by step! Just like meeting your most important friends for the first time, you can definitely find it! (Ueki looking for his 'object')
